Taste of Shanghai Restaurant at Ashfield for the dumplings & more - another lunch time savouring

So it goes, whilst pondering on what to have for lunch on a Saturday & whilst spending time out inner west, the thought that comes to mind...anyone for Xiao Long Bao's or fresh out the steamer for small steamed dumplings with soup?

So we head down the main strip (Liverpool St, Ashfield) and decide to  pick "Taste Of Shanghai at Ashfield" which is near the fruit shop, Ashfield Mall & hotel side. It was the renovations they had made to the front of the building and added the upstairs seating component that divided us from the packed people eating downstairs, & made the dining experience alot more relaxed vs cramped like sardines at a restaurant packed with people in places similar to this that we've experienced.

As we climbed the stairs to the upper floor, we were more at peace as we sat in the corner with a large table that could clearly fit double our guests! We were only a group of four today.

Cafe XXII - Pyrmont Pre-Christmas Dinner with the family Dec 2010

As we'll be missing celebrating Christmas dinner with family (we are off down South for the break) we decided on having a cozy pre christmas dinner close by. So Cafe XXII was the pick in Pyrmont.

They change their menu every 2 days or if you have a special request & they have all the fresh ingredients available they might even cook up something special for you.

Mr. Bird: Very true Mrs. Bird.  They had a special main that night which was Lobster Tail baked in a special butter sauce.  I've been wanting to try their Lobster Tail Linguine with Champagne Sauce ever since I read about it in eatability and upon hearing that Lobster Tail is available tonight, I jumped at the chance.  Alex (our waiter for the night) was extremely accommodating and checked with the head chef to see if they have the necessary ingredients to prepare this dish for me.  Yipppee!!!

The Atmosphere: Cozy, Warm, Singles to Couples to Family to friends gathering, celebrations catered for. Most important was the clean cutlery & clean white sheets for the table.

So what did we enjoy for this evening's dinner?
